Surprise mom on Mother's Day with a dream house plan from The House Designers, where she will feel like the queen of the castle. Recent studies show that women make or influence 85% of all purchasing decisions, including traditional male products like automobiles, home improvement products and electronics.
When it comes to choosing a home design women look for specific features in a floor plan. Men tend to look at the structural aspects of a home, while women look for functionality and features that will make everyday life easier.
One of the top features on a mom’s wish list is a spacious and functional kitchen. When it comes to the layout and amenities of a kitchen, mom wants and deserves the very best. Topping the list are luxury appliances, plenty of cabinets and countertops, gorgeous hardwood flooring and center islands to make cooking and entertaining a breeze. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) found that ENERGY STAR® appliances are a prime feature for new homebuyers.
While cooking might be where mom dominates, she also needs a place to unwind and pamper herself. You can look towards the master suite to serve those needs. A master bath with a large whirlpool tub or even a large master suite with a sitting area could be the perfect place for mom to sit, unwind and indulge in a warm bath or good book.
Similarly, mom also wants a place to entertain. Spaces like large sunrooms, outdoor living spaces, finished basements or media rooms can all serve this purpose. Open floor plans are also popular for parents who entertain friends or who have a growing family because they not only have better traffic flow, but they also allow mom to cook and clean while keeping an eye on the children.
While those are three top areas on mom’s list, another important feature mom is closet and storage space. Most female homebuyers are quick to scope out the size and number of closets. Extras coat and linen closets tame the clutter and make finding things a breeze. This is an important feature for mom, who doesn’t have time to spend looking for things in the bottom of an endless closet.
Taking all of this into account, mom is also sure to want a home that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to maintain and clean. Things like easily wiped hardwood and no-paint exterior siding are very desirable to mom. The last thing that mom wants to think about is more work. Between juggling a career, raising the children and keeping a clean home, mom’s life is full enough. Products that are easy to maintain make her life a lot easier.
These areas of any home are key to making mom happy all year long, but especially on Mother’s Day. So when you give your mom her breakfast in bed this Sunday, surprise her with the plans to a new home that is sure to meet all of her needs and make her life easier.
