Affordable, Stylish Bedroom Ceiling Design Ideas

Decorative ceiling treatments can easily transform the look of any bedroom into the master suite of your dreams. There are a wide variety of architectural products to choose from that will add dimension, warmth and elegance to your ceiling. By investing a little time and money you can turn your ceiling into the focal point of your bedroom.

Decorative crown moulding from Fypon® was used to give this master suite an elegant, yet earthy décor. Fypon® has a large selection of decorative urethane millwork, columns and PVC trim so you can create a custom interior design at a fraction of the cost of real wood.

Faux tray ceilings are a popular decorative element in master bedrooms. Even if your bedroom wasn't designed with a tray ceiling, you can easily create the illusion of one with this ceiling treatment. By simply painting bands of color around the edge of the room you'll give the ceiling visual depth. A shaded appearance is created where each band ends by painting a one-inch line in a darker shade of the same color. You can also use decorative molding on the ceiling a few inches in from the wall to create the illusion of depth.

The use of Tin Look™ Wellington by Armstrong® highlights the warmth of this bedroom. The classic, white ceiling brightens up this master suite and complements the cozy décor. The tongue-and-groove ceiling tiles come painted and are directly applied to the drywall ceiling making it an affordable option.

Tin ceiling tiles are often found in the kitchen but they can also work in a bedroom. Consider how well the tin look will blend with your bedroom décor. Tin tiles come in a variety of stamped patterns and finishes offering you some flexibility in the design.

For a classic cottage look, you can't beat a paneled ceiling. You can easily create the effect of wood and give your ceiling texture and depth by using plywood panels, tongue-and-groove board paneling (also called beadboard) and mineral fiber planks that imitate wood. All of these materials can be stained or painted to match your bedroom's décor.

A simple way to dress up a bedroom is adding a ceiling medallion around your center light fixture.

Ceiling medallions are available in wide variety of materials, from wood to metal, and styles ranging from simple to very ornate.

The most affordable option is plastic ceiling tile, which comes in a wide variety of styles and finishes. Despite being plastic, they are a good insulator and fire safe. It's a great way to create a unique look in your bedroom.

Cork ceiling tiles are becoming increasingly popular because they are inexpensive and eco-friendly. They are available in two main styles — waxed and unwaxed. A waxed cork tile will have more of a shine to it and will bring out the natural texture of the cork, while unwaxed cork tile will have a more matte appearance. You'll enjoy a good night's sleep knowing that your ceiling is made from cork because it's a great insulator, resists rotting and is considered fireproof.
