We’ve selected some of our favorite house plans with large front porches to inspire you to add some decorative flair to your home for the fall and winter season.
Beyond the beauty of a new front porch, it provides extra living space and protection for your front entry from the weather. It can even help lower your summer energy bills by deflecting the sun from entering directly into your home. In the winter, it protects your windows and siding from the snow, wind and rain that can cause your home to age quicker.
A wraparound porch provides a great place to retreat from the sun, wind and rain. You can turn part of your porch into a cozy sitting area with comfortable seating like rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs painted in rich autumn-inspired colors. Accent this area with colorful seasonal flowers like mums, bright cushions and pillows and lanterns. Don’t forget to decorate your columns and railings. They are the perfect place for wrapping holiday lights, corn stalks and garland.
You can add pops of fall color to your yard by placing small groups of pumpkins, bales of hale and seasonal plants placed in rustic pots and baskets along the front of your porch and walkway.

We’d love to see pictures of your autumn and Halloween porches so we can post them on Pinterest.
